When to buy organic and non-organic

The Environmental Working Group is a non-profit consumer watchdog dedicated to improving public health and protecting the environment. It has produced a Shopper’s Guide To Pesticides in Produce listing foods that are the most and least contaminated.
The left column shows the Dirty Dozen (hence Buy These Organic!), with pitiful peaches and apples topping the worst list. On the right column are the Cleanest 12 where onions and avocado take the lead as the lowest in pesticides.
The information is based on the results of nearly 43,000 tests for pesticides. The complete list of 43 items also includes mushrooms, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, oranges and papayas.
Pesticide load aside, the next concern is genetically modified varieties sneaking amongst the cleanest.
Once in a supermarket I overheard someone uttered “Then eat what?” after his family member mentioned something that shouldn’t be eaten because it could cause cancer. *Sigh* Same question I often ask myself. Well well I repeat to myself to do what I can, don’t slack and press on…for my life is in you Lord.
