What’s in my supermarket: happy buys from Sheng Siong

[Chapter: City rounds]

The first place I usually go to buy vinegar is at Sheng Siong supermarket. At 95 cents to $1 a bottle (depending on brand), I cannot go anywhere else. Over the last few years I have also bought a pack or 2 of raspberrish pink clothe pegs from Italy and hardly-ever-seen Fire King’s mini glass casseroles, all of which were my happy buys from this home-grown mart.

Here are some other finds which I enjoy telling everyone about:

  • Purslanes flowers, $5.
These pretties have been perpetually blooming which got us very excited and brought smiles every day. I went out and bought more pots to give to others to spread the cheer (though I realised later not every pot will bloom madly).

  • Wrapping paper, $0.40 (not fantastic quality but cute design)
  • Doily pack, $0.85
  • Grease proof paper, $.85 (wrapping tissue alternative)
  • Steel brush, $1

What are your happy buys at your local grocer’s or supermarket?
