When I was young, my aunt used to give my grandma and her silblings calendar tea towels from Switzerland almost every year upon return from her vacation with my (Swiss) uncle. The towels were made by Kreier, Fisba-Stoffels, Alba and others. They were all pretty, bold and colourful.

She would buy a variety each year so that everyone will get something different from each other. Inevitably there came a time when I began to anticipate the design that would grace our towel for the coming new year — wondering would we receive the Alps, or pictures of traditional Swiss costumes? Edelweiss and other flowers? Cute boy-n-girl in costume? A rooster sundial? Or maybe village scenes? No matter which design we got, I just loved to examine every detail (including the foreign wordings) before mum hangs it up at the usual spot.
