Formula 1 was in town

Last night our little island played host to the first ever F1 Grand Prix night race. Race proper started at 8pm.

Hub and I were a short distance away from the street circuit in the city’s shopping area. The sound of the speeding cars spinning away sounded very much like fighter jets.

The live telecast was shown free on a wide-screen in a nearby mall and that’s where I took these pictures. Half the time, I find myself staring at the sponsors’ names displayed prominently on each racer’s car and helmet. Now I understand why these cars are called the world’s fastest moving billboards.

I remember once, as a kid, my mom took us to the free day at the Detroit Grand Prix. I couldn’t believe how fast those cars went!

That is fun! I’ve never been to a race for real…only seen on tv! My mom watches races every weekend on tv–she’s hooked–LOL! Happy Day, Clara! ((HUGS)) Oh, stop by if you get a chance–I’m having a fun giveaway this week! :o)

    Vroom… vroom…

Must be quite an experience to drive in one of those cars or should I say plane? :-)
