Formula 1 was in town

Last night our little island played host to the first ever F1 Grand Prix night race. Race proper started at 8pm.

Hub and I were a short distance away from the street circuit which is in the city/shopping area. We could hear the speeding cars spinning away and sounding very much like aircrafts.

The live telecast was shown on a wide-screen in a nearby mall and that’s where I took the above pictures of Lewis Hamilton and his car. Half the time, I find myself staring at the sponsors’ names displayed prominently on each racer’s car and helmet. No wonder these cars are called the world’s fastest moving billboards.

I thought after last night, we’ll say goodbye to the F1 *night* fever but hub tells me the night race will return again for the next 4 years.

I remember once, as a kid, my mom took us to the free day at the Detroit Grand Prix. I couldn’t believe how fast those cars went!

    Vroom… vroom…

Must be quite an experience to drive in one of those cars or should I say plane? :-)
