Dressed up paper clips: 2 ways

Chapter: Projects

Surely there are many ways to dress up paper clips but I narrowed down to two — using fabric covered buttons and die cut ribbon bows. I had my god-daughter and niece make some for themselves.

Dressed up paper clips with fabric covered buttons and felt bows.

To make the fabric covered buttons, we used a kit from Daiso. The kit comes with a set of tools (mould and pusher), a paper round template, aluminum button shells and backs with shanks. I used two button sizes – 22mm and 18mm. 22 mm as the main fabric covered button, and the smaller 18 mm button shell as a cover to hide the glue and shank. The kits listed below under supplies are not from Daiso but they are similar and close to the sizes to we used in the video.

As for the ribbon bows, I die cut them out of felt.

Watch this video as my 11-year-old god-daughter shows you how.

  1. Great ideas, and enjoyable watching your god-daughter making them so well. I have the bow die, and saw a button making kit at Hobby Lobby today.
