Boy-themed journal with pockets and goodies

The last few weeks has been for me a gift rush to several birthday kids (and they were all boys) around me . What I prepared for them were journals, and of course not regular journals but ones that with pockets/slots stuffed with goodies.

Simple handmade journal with pockets and a hanging band to explore all the goodies.

One of the journals I had made was this longish one using 2 different sheets of 12”x12” paper from the Toy Box collection by Carta Bella Paper. The designs from this collection are perfect for a boyish theme. One full sheet went to the cover, and a second sheet (with a different design) was used for the inner pockets, a hanging “bar” and the other matching stuff (listed below). Since I really couldn’t bear trim off any part of the gorgeous illustration so the cover was 12” long, a little less than 4” wide, with the balance folded in to make pockets inside the back cover.

The inside pages are just plain yellow papers while the goodies I included were Herma alphabet sticker sheet, car stickers, paperclip, a green paper pad (sheets of paper stapled together), traffic ephemera, a fun hidden picture activity sheet (that will be the folded white sheet of paper sealed with a small strip of patterned paper) and finally a range of matching personalized bookmark, tag, magnetic page marker, toothpick pennant and mini notebook.
