Emi Shimosato

Today may I invite you to visit the wonderful world of Japanese zakka in Emi Shimosato, a cosy shop run by Kyoko. Kyoko is a Japanese currently living in Northern Virginia, USA. Among the many charming handmade goodness in her shop (just look at the cute pin cushion, egg coasters + bird pouch!), she makes baby quilts with Japanese or Korean alphabets which are very popular in her shop.

Wax seal pendants

These striking pendants at Ritzy Misfit are too gorgeous! I can’t help but imagine myself wearing a ‘C’.

Ruled paper – pouch

This personalised index card pouch available at Christina’s is just the sweetest! Simply enter your text in the “message to seller” field and the pouch will be uniquely yours. This is certainly one of the nicest personalisables I’ve ever come across (another being the postcard pillow)!

Nuvonova

I met Clara when she visited bloomize and left me a comment. And as always, I’m glad she did. We were both very happy to have met another Clara (how not often does that happen!).

I went to her shop nuvonova and it was clear to me that she’s one talented designer who makes jewelry, sews, binds books and illustrates as well! I adore the pouches she makes with unbleached cotton fabric which will make great gift bags.

If you have an online shop, I would love to visit and share your work here at bloomize. Invite me by sending me an emailing or by leaving a comment. Rest assured, I visit every link left behind! And I always revisit the shop.

Syko

Kajsa is a sweet lady from Turku, Finland who creates adorable art with fabric appliques under the label Syko. In every piece of her work, she either tells a little story, shares a message or welcomes season changes.

Her work is not only sold in various locations around her home country Finland but also in selected boutiques in Canada, the US and UK. But for those of us who are living so far away from these places, she ships worldwide through her Etsy shop! In it she houses a selection of her lovely appliques on quilts, cushions, ornaments, key rings and other accessories.

The quilt scene above shows Lovisas enjoying her walk in a forest on a Spring day. She’s surrounded by pretty wood anemone flowers, and with the appearance of birch leaves, Kajsa says it’s a sign that summer is around the corner!

Matryoshka doll – fully cross-stitched

I don’t remember searching Etsy for anything related to matryoshka, needlework, or even amber stones, yet this cute Russian doll appeared somewhere within the multitude of search results, in a shop selling raw amber deposits from the Baltic Sea! Huh?! I still can’t believe it.

So you’re not only looking at a thoroughly cross-stitched (front + back) matryoshka, but one that’s handmade in Kaliningrad, Russia, which makes her a true Russian doll.
