Chapter: 'Blooming zakka'

Cardboard – wheelable boxes

There are a few things that have come under the spotlight in Bloomize more often than others — chopsticks, eggs, umbrellas and corrugated cardboard of course! A quick search will lead you to the entries.

I’m seriously liking this wheelable box designed by David Graham, posted at I New Idea.

Every single part is cardboard, even the wheels!

La Marquise des Anges

Lining a stream of ribbon ruffles can make quite a difference to a plain tee. This lovely piece available in the La Marquise des Anges boutique is a fine example.

Flourishing ruffles (especially in champagne) never seem to go wrong, do they?

Don’t Forget ribbon ring

Ruth, the owner of the lovely jewellery shop Sparkle Thots is hosting a contest giveaway and bloomize readers are invited to join in!

She is giving away one of her most popular items, the “Don’t Forget” ribbon gold ring, which also comes with a sweet little story behind its creation.

So run over now to the “Celebrate the Special Moments” contest and share something you would like to remember (an event, a place, a moment or a relationship, etc). Contest ends 10 August. Don’t forget!

Wedding favours hunt: Weddingstar

Many of the celebratory favours I found at Weddingstar are truly as adaptable as can be, for they are as appropriate for weddings as for non-nuptial occasions.

Well that’s not all. While surfing around the site (and physically flipping through their thick catalogue), I actually found craft + decor supplies that got me excited.

Never would I have expected a favours shop to be such a wonderful place to source for supplies! And I mean pretty creative supplies. I found things like blackboard clip, hand painted butterfly, woven basket bag, cherry blossom, bird nest, die-cut trees, metal boats and organic cotton pouches. And you know what, I ordered one of the above as one of the favours for my bro’s wedding. Can you guess which one?

Day Craft

Day Craft from Hong Kong makes chic + adorable diaries and notebooks. I like this notebook from their cartoon series.

Their notebooks in the juicy series are also very interesting. Got to love the almost lifelike melony details on the melon diary.

Wedding favours hunt: Ikea

My brother is getting married at the end of the month and I have been lending my hand in scouting for favours, particularly practical ones.

In my head were all sorts of DIY and non-DIY ideas that I didn’t want to neglect any, hence I kept an eye on towels for applique, petite storage jars, things heart-shaped and simply anything else that is economical.

One of the places that I had to go take a look for ideas was Ikea, because isn’t it like the next craft supplies store?

Here are the things that I kept in mind…Vitaminer Hjarta hearts fabric, ELLAKAJSA or LENDA tea-towels, FRAJEN washcloth, RAJTAN spice jars, SLOM glass bottle and mini succulent plants (at only SGD 1.90 each).

Okay, the glass bottle has nothing to do with the favours, I had to include it because it’s nostalgic-looking and it’s made in Italy!

Stay tune for more jots on my findings and my DIY project. I’ve been so inspired by all that I’ve seen that I’m thinking of cataloging the ideas in a wedding or entertaining blog!
