Asian Investment

On Sunday, I was at an investment fair because hub wanted to attend 2 talks related to stocks, one of which was conducted by Mr Li Xinjing, a well-known and immensely popular speaker. His session (above) was packed and we had to stand at the back after we came in from a talk that just ended in the next room. We suspected that those who had seats must have attended a session (which wasn’t their main interest) held in the same room just before Mr Li’s in order to secure their seats. Which is wise if you don’t want to stand for the next one and a half hours or so to hear him speak.

Exposing garlic – you are one of a kind

The bloom is formed by cutting the outer layer (which I call garlic paper) into petals.

Thanks everyone for the garlic love + support! More *paper crafts* to come!

Muji Village

Muji has teamed up with a real estate developer to create Muji Village consisting of Muji-styled homes located in Funabashi city in Chiba Prefecture, east of central Tokyo.

The building concept is based on 3 elements: GREEN (trees/natural greenery), PLAIN (a white concrete design that will not go out of style), and COMMUNITY (common spaces for residents to commune). Apartments will be completed by November in time for occupancy in mid February 2010.

Otthon magazine

Here’s a very inviting country home as seen on the website of a Hungarian home decor magazine, Otthon.

I’ve no clue what the site says, but it looks like there’s a contest for readers to vote their favourite home and the couple who owns this cosy abode is one of the finalists.

Inomi

Kawaii goodness abounds in the Silly Little Song shop belonging to Japanese artist and crafter Ariko “Inomi” Kitsu, who lives in Tokyo. Ariko draws, sews and creates a variety of charming handmade zakka like bags, purses, amigurumi, softies and an illustrated zine. There’s really no need to drool over handmade goodies seen on Japanese zakka mooks when we have Inomi at Etsy! View her work + catch glimpses of the craft fairs/exhibitions she had participated in Japan from her Flickr photostream.
