Egg – shaper + cooker

This egg shaper, named the Dreamland, is yet another addition to bento-cheering accessories and it’s not the same as the ones that shape whole hard boiled eggs.

This one requires the separation of the yolk from the white as the first step. Then pour the white into the cavity and place the Dreamland into a pot of water to cook. Boil for 15 minutes if using cool water or 12 minutes if using hot water. When the white is ready, pour in the yolk and cook again in the pot for another 8 minutes. Here are more pictures on the procedure (but with Japanese text). Dreamland is also meant for making + shaping jelly.

It’s also available at Amazon jp for 1,680 Yen (about SGD 26/USD 17)

Thanks for your company this week, have a restful weekend!

Balloons to jewelry

These circles make this a pretty pendant and made even prettier by the pink-brown-white combo. Ashley Pickin created this piece plus other jewelry and accessories using only balloon scraps. So creative!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today!

Awkward lemon + capsicum

Once upon a time there was a piece of leftover capsicum from dinner, who needed a place to rest. While peeping into the fridge, he saw that there was room in a yellow dome occupied by some lemon slices. He asked the lemons if he could join them. The friendly lemons said come in.

After the capsicum bid farewell and left the dome, the lemons were surprised that the capsicum’s scent was still lingering around their home. Later, they received news that when one of their own was added to a cup of green tea, the tea tasted exactly like capsicum! They were all horrified!

Everyone was feeling very awkward about their body odour and no matter what they did and how hard they tried, they were just not able to recover their lemony flavour. The end.

Stopper pop

The other night as I was opening a new 500ml-bottle of hydrogen peroxide, there was a sudden popping sound that rushed off the moment I raised the cap from the bottle. Quickly I searched the floor and found this plastic stopper. I wasn’t aware that it came with the 500ml. The smaller 100ml bottle which is what I usually buy is never sealed with such a stopper.

Soon, I pushed it back into the bottle again and stepped far away from it. *P-O-P* it went, after several minutes. Did some googling later and was informed that oxygen gas buildup made it pop. Reason? Left unopened for too long!

Gift guide 2008

I think the time now is perfect to formally introduce bloomizans to Etsy, one of the world’s biggest online marketplace, just like Rakuten. Etsy houses small boutiques offering zakka, especially handmade ones, from all over the world and shipment to any part of the world isn’t a problem too. I know I’ve been leading everyone to the fabulous shops at Rakuten but leaving you there to battle with a foreign language should you try to place an order, but at Etsy it’s all in comfortable English. And that’s not all, the boutique owners KNOW how to appreciate their customers. They really do! And if you will let them.

To help you kick start your shopping expedition, I’ve prepared a little gift guide for things under $40.
